Having hosted 3 World and 9 European championships in land yachting SPO has gained lots of experience throughout the last 55 years.
Due to its favorable climate and beneficial winds it is known as watersport mecca far beyond German borders. These winds in combination with the 12-kilometer long sandbank located right in the National Park “Wadden Sea”, make St. Peter-Ording an exciting paradise for thrilling speeds.
The local wide and flat sandbank is heavily shaped by tides and tidal creeks and changes constantly. Therefore the sandbanks are recognized as the most challenging area for land yachting in Europe…
ST. PETER-ORDING PARADISE DESTINATION
Welcoming and trendy, but a little harsh at times. Those, who visit St. Peter-Ording will experience a modern and vibrant destination, located at the North Sea shoreline of Germany. As a holiday resort, the town is favourable for sportive and active tourists of all age groups and popular with families from young children to grandparents.
The biggest beach on Germany’s West Coast with its characteristic stilt houses provides lots of space for swimming, beach and bathing fun. The width of the beach offers plenty of possibilities within five guarded swimming spots and provides unlimited options for surfers, kite-surfers, Kitebuggy sports and land sailors beyond.
Salt marshes, dunes, mud flats and the sandbank belong to the UNESCO world heritage site “Wadden Sea”, declared in 2009. Due to the length of the town of St. Peter-Ording, it offers 4 different and characteristic neighbourhoods along the dike with a total of 20,000 guest beds.
